Communitywide Charities in collaboration with Careerbridge Foundation is planning a One Week Free-Medical Outreach at the General Hospital, Ijebu-Jesa and General Hospital, Ilesa, Osun State, Nigeria. The Outreach starts on Monday, August 26, 2019 and ends on Saturday, August 31, 2019.
The breakdown of the medical procedures and activities to be performed are:
- Cataract Surgery: – The Ophthalmologist Medical Team will perform cataract extraction for 200 poor rural people who cannot afford surgical procedures that will improve their vision. We will also provide Eyes drop, 1300 Eyes Glasses and other medications to the benefits of the patients.
- Hernia Surgery:-The Herniorrhaphy extraction section led by Medical Team will also performs 100 Hernia surgeries for male, female and children.
- The Physiotherapistshold three sections of range of motion education exercise. They will carried out massage therapy for 400 poor rural people (especially elderly) who cannot afford treatment for musculoskeletal disorders including joint pains, arthritis, stiff joint, swelling, and administered medications.
- There will be screening and consultation section comprised of doctors, nurses and pharmacists. The series of tests carried out by this section includes, pregnancy test, blood sugar level, malaria, and vital signs. The commonest medical conditions our outreach will address are as follows: Rheumatoid arthritis, hypertension, diabetes mellitus, peptic ulcer diseases, pelvic inflammatory diseases, glaucoma, malnutrition, typhoid, malaria, cataract, pneumonia, and diarrhea.
At the end of the Free-Medical Outreach, we would have taken care or service the medical needs of up-to 4,000 poor rural people who cannot afford to pay for medical care because they have no money or health insurance.
